Surrogacy

A path to parenthood when carrying a pregnancy isn’t possible.

What is Surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction in which a woman (the surrogate) carries a pregnancy within her uterus on behalf of another couple (the intended parents).

How the Process Works

  • 1. IVF Procedure: The intended parents undergo IVF, where their eggs and sperms are collected to create an embryo in the lab.
  • 2. Implantation: This embryo is then carefully implanted into the womb (uterus) of the surrogate lady.
  • 3. Birth & Custody: After the baby is born, the surrogate hands over the custody of the baby to the intended parents.

When is Surrogacy Advised?

Surrogacy is typically recommended in situations where medical conditions prevent a woman from safely carrying a pregnancy. Common indications include:

Uterine Medical Problems

Cases where the woman is unable to carry a pregnancy due to severe medical problems affecting her uterus.

Post-Hysterectomy

Women who have had a hysterectomy (surgery to remove the uterus) but still wish to have a biological child.

High-Risk Health Conditions

Situations where the woman has a systemic health condition that would make pregnancy life-threatening or extremely risky for her.
